Why this and why now?

As an upper-middle-class, it has been instilled within me from an early age to strive to be a cut above the rest.

...Do what you need to be different...
...There is no point in being a carbon copy or a slate for someone else...

And within this generation of young motivators and relatively fast pace leaders, I am frequently asked about my aspirations with the intent of holding me to the same standard. To my younger self, this was the first trigger of my anxiety. Not everyone has discovered a drive or a constant desire to reach a specific target within their life. Some are still searching and some only do what is expected of them to make others happy. But for me, it was strange and unclear.

Our aspirations should motivate us through our daily easy and challenging experiences. Some may say it is your independent hopes, dreams and goals that provide a sense of drive and some may say it's instilled from birth and ignited when a relationship is developed through religion. This also means that our goals are a result of what we attempt to achieve. But does that necessarily mean one may always have a clear understanding of this means for themself which is appropriate to share upon request? 😐

When asked about one's career aspiration, the typical answer is expected to be along the lines of a long-term career goal, plan, or dream that is far away in the future, instead of short-term and in the present. The idea of this and the expectation of this is scary for most young adults because we don't all have a strong work ethic or deep-seated passion about the things we do (that would be great 😓) but sometimes we drift where ever life permits us. It is not always possible to pursue or fall along the lines of things we are passionate about because it isn't an option available to us based on the resources available to our social class or social circle.

My passion in life is to help in whatever way I can because that is where my happiness lies. Fields of study and career paths often become flooded due to potential money that can be made or the recommendation of the media to enter the field, as the sole reason for some. But due to societal expectation that one must choose what to study and major in and not to necessarily major in multiple things. This lead to me choosing applied science for my bachelor's degree after trying several fields through voluntary service and part-time work during my seven years of high school.

My intended career path to date is that of crime investigation, specifically, I desire to be a Forensic Chemist and Crime Scene Photographer. But currently, my part-time job is a financial consultant for regular savings and personal budgeting for young adults.

Why an industry different from my degree you may ask?

Simple answer, I still have the desire to try several things. As a result, I entered the financial field late December 2019 because I saw the need rising to assist my peers. But I still desire to continue my degree program because of the contribution I can make to my country.
