What are the facts?

The phase Google defines “the fact that” as used to refer to a particular situation under discussion. Originally when I think of this phase, I think of the anxiety associated with a new year and having to live up to expectations (whether set by others or unrealistic ones I place on myself).


But now I’m not sure if that is where I want to take this. When we get all over our heads, is it really about us not talking about the reality or the facts in front of us or we are overreacting? Or it could be the fear of not being able to meet or serve all of those we think we care about. Sometimes it is even us thinking too much about all the outcomes and not being able to pick one outcome to focus on. Another scenario is that in the case of a toxic relationship you may be holding onto the idea of a relationship that doesn’t bring out the best in you or serves you as being a part of. But either way, we look at it as one overlapping problem not be blinded by the facts surrounding the situation. Why can’t you grow? Why can’t you achieve this? Why are you unhappy? What are the facts surrounding the situation and are you genuinely taking them into consideration?


Personally, I’m not always good at this. Sometimes I intentionally ignore signs and others' comments because I want to ‘go see for myself’ or ‘prove people wrong’. In some cases, that is exactly what you need to do, but most times that is not the move that your creator has in store for you. Next time you're in a doubtful situation or stuck in a runt, maybe try praying about it if you are spiritual and ask yourself what are the facts about the situation you are in. Don’t come too hard on yourself, but be honest and focus on the deep desires that will make you happy and fulfilled in the long term.
